6 sessions of world folk music with harmonies. Very fun. Starts 6/25 and goes until 8/6 with a week off 7/2 for a long July 4th weekend. Small group with lots of nurturing for those who aren’t too knowledgable about singing and learning hard stuff. The goal of this group is to have a good time with songs from just about everywhere that are mostly no longer sung. Bring your recording device. Word sheets provided. Two whole days of dance and music free and open to everyone at Presidio Middle School in San Francisco. Kids can participate in programs just for them and adults who love folk music can go to see and participate in programs in all kinds of folk music and folk dance. June 13th and 14th, 2009. Google it.
Three decades this festival has been going on. I’ve been in it singing with Israeli dance groups-Nirkoda and again with San Francisco Dance theatre or was it the other way around? Then when I got into hula I was in it twice with Hui Pa Hula O Lei’Anuenue. It showcases the richness of the ethnic dance community. If you can imagine it, it will be there.
