Snow Building Oakland Zoo 5pm to 9pm, June 21, 2009-RSVP by 6/12/09. Very pricey at $75/pp, but it goes to help the California Revels present their sumptuous program in December at Oakland’s Scottish Rite on Harrison. This one is a dinner from Jonathon Moon and wines from the Bonneau Dickson and Kent Rasmussen Wineries. It is a Revels celebration of the summer solstice. http://californiarevels.org

6 sessions of world folk music with harmonies. Very fun. Starts 6/25 and goes until 8/6 with a week off 7/2 for a long July 4th weekend. Small group with lots of nurturing for those who aren’t too knowledgable about singing and learning hard stuff. The goal of this group is to have a good time with songs from just about everywhere that are mostly no longer sung. Bring your recording device. Word sheets provided. Check out the Summer Sing page on this website.

Three decades this festival has been going on. I’ve been in it singing with Israeli dance groups-Nirkoda and again with San Francisco Dance theatre or was it the other way around? Then when I got into hula I was in it twice with Hui Pa Hula O Lei’Anuenue. It showcases the richness of the ethnic dance community. If you can imagine it, it will be there. It happens in June at the Palace of Fine Arts. different dance groups are featured each weekend through the month. Http://www.worldartswest.org
