This one almost slipped by unnoticed by me. You’ll be fascinated by the website. AAAARGH! June 20-21st www.norcalpiratefestival.com
We all love sea shanteys. Dress up.-lots of stuff for kids. Some venerable performers I’ve sung with (or along side of) for years at Renaissance and Dickens fairs. Don’t miss Dogwatch Nautical Band. These folks have zeroed in on sea music for as long as I’ve done Sing Thing and longer (since many of them were performing where and when I was in my youth). I just couldn’t choose one genre of traditional music, but they did and they are the experts. Did I mention that it is free? It is and so is the Salmon-Aid Festival. (Thank goodness there are two days this weekend-one day for each festival.)

There is a festival to raise consciousness and money to aid in stopping the extinction of our Pacific Salmon and to bring them back to our rivers. It is full of great booths from all the groups working to protect and preserve the fisheries, birds, endangered rivers, organic producers of good food and drink. There is music and there is sustainably caught fish for eating there.
Salmon-Aid Festival: Saturday and Sunday June 20th & 21st, 2009 at Jack London Square in Oakland. 10AM to 5PM.

As many of you know, I have been an artist in Shady Lane Gallery in Palo Alto for 35 years. I make hand-knotted necklaces and bracelets. I also make earrings to match some of my pieces. Our gallery now has a beautiful, new website and you can actually see a few of my pieces on it. Click on Local Artists and scroll down to the bottom of the page. My pieces are in hand blown glass vases. My CD is for sale as well.
