We have a treasure right here in Oakland. The Cohen Bray house opens its doors to the community only a few times a year.
The Holiday Tea is very special. Lovely teas and little sandwiches & goodies served by family members at the big table along with a tour of this Italian stick home built in the late 1800’s as a wedding gift for the families of Alfred Cohen and Emma Brae. Family members still live in the home and because of the great depression of the 1930’s money was never available to remodel. Thus, we have a lovingly cared for, unrestored and beautiful old Victorian with all of it’s original furnishings intact. It takes my breath away. It is likely that Sandi will be singing holiday and Victorian era songs while you sip and Shim will be tucked away in the kitchen washing the delicate china and silver.
The tea will be held January 4th, costs $25 (and well worth it) seatings at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. The house is at 1440 29th Ave, just off International Blvd and a couple of blocks North of Fruitvale. For reservations call 510 843-2906 or email cohenbrayhouse@gmail.com
On December 29th there will be a Holiday open house at the Cohen Bray house. Tour the downstairs, have cider and cookies and hear stories about Christmas past. A $10 donation. Tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets. For reservations call 510 843-2906.
