A couple of years ago a film called “The Whale” came out, produced by Scarlett Johannson about a baby orca, separated from his family pod, who came to live close to humans in upper Washington State. The couple who filmed that dramatized version for commercial distribution also made a really fine documentary about the orca, named Luna and his plight. They came to know him and the people who truly wanted to help him. He came to know them. “Luna” lived 7 years alone and close to humans.
This is Luna’s real story and it is showing on KQED, channel 9 on Wednesday, March 5th at 7:30 and will be shown again on KQED, Channel 9 on Sunday, March 9th at 7:30. In addition there will be a repeat on Channel 9 at 1:30AM on 3/6 and again at 1:30Am on March 10th. This documentary is absolutely wonderful. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Don’t miss it!
